The Annual Bacon Year in Review – Our 2020 in Pictures
The Bacon’s year in review..
Here is my traditional highlight reel!
January: The year started off in with a cozy little kid-free cabin get-away in the middle of nowhere. We were social distancing before it was the cool thing to do! It was perfectly timed.
February: I got to have a little mommy and me time visiting Anna for family weekend at school in North Carolina. I cherish every minute with my grown-up girl. Even though my eyes still see her as a little girl in pig tails, she continues to wow me with her maturity, compassion and beautiful heart.
March: Well, we all know what happened to the world in March. Despite lots of meltdowns initially and the big change in schedule, Eric surprised us and was amazingly flexible. Every few weeks he would spiral into a meltdown and let all of that sadness and confusion out — but hey so did I, so I completely understood and could never be upset with him. Actually, as time went on -it made me sad that he adjusted to this new mask-wearing normal.
This kicked off my nervous energy where I walked hundreds of miles and baked hundreds (well probably thousands) of calories!
April: We had our first social-distant celebration for my mom’s 80th birthday….and we celebrated the same way for my Dad in July. Each month we hoped and prayed that things would get back to “normal.” The perks of being home led me to being able to watch the entire process of a robin bird build a nest, lay four eggs, and have them hatch one by one and spread their wings and fly off! I may have spent way too much time watching my “Zoe” cam that we set up on our front porch….
May: Brought miles and miles of more walks and adventures. Sunrise walks at the beach, endless loops at the local reservoir, and lots of hours walking through the neighborhood. Working from home, allowed me to work longer days and enjoy taking time off on Fridays and heading to the beach all summer long.
June: We celebrated Eric’s 16th birthday with some pretty cool whales and seals. Eric was so sad that we couldn’t plan a vacation this year. He totally understood about “people getting sick” and “everything being closed” but I sure hope that the world can open up again soon. It is getting hard to remember what normal life feels like — seeing people and going places.
July: We did a few house repair projects and Mr. Bacon built himself a greenhouse. It is so beautiful and such a joyful place when you see all those sprouts and blooms smiling at you. And Eric got the best news ever that Sesame Place was finally able to open again for the season. That helped to restore a little normal back to Eric’s life – even though everything was different.
August: We celebrated Anna’s 19th birthday! (How can that be?!?!) And she got to head south to have her fall semester in person for her sophomore year. It was definitely not your typical college life experience – but it will be something she and her classmates will never forget. I hope that Junior and Senior year will allow her to have some carefree living before she graduates and enters the “real” world!!
September: At this point, the year was pretty monotonous and just a blur of the same thing every day. Everyone is getting pandemic fatigue — and sadly the numbers are starting to go in the wrong direction again. When will this nightmare end??
October: This year has truly taught us to slow down and enjoy the things that are right in front of you. Enjoy the people in your house. Focus on the positives and the silver linings and despite an exceptionally challenging year I could list off so many good things that happened.
November: Mr. B and I had a chance for another overnight get-away at a bed and breakfast where we were blessed with unseasonably warm weather that allowed us to go for so many long walks and bike rides and even sit on the beach. Social distancing again for the win! I was so prepared to literally sit in the room and read non-stop, and the weather was so perfect we just had to be outside enjoying it!
December: And here we are at the end of another year— and we are going out with a bang! Mr. B launched his new business and is now a published author!!!! We also had 100% of the Special Wants holiday wishes granted for the 5th year in a row!!!
And every day that I look out my back door and see that beautiful sunrise I am reminded of all of our blessings. We have a roof over our head, food in the fridge, good health for our loved ones and all the love you can imagine being showered upon our family. 2020 may not have gone as hoped or planned, but despite it all we definitely have to be grateful for the memories we did make this year.
Thank you to all of you for sharing these days with us! Your support and comments always mean so much to our family. We hope you never feel alone – since we are all in this together.
—Wishing you a peaceful, calm, healthy & bright New Year.
Mrs. B.
One thing I’d really like to say is that car insurance cancellations is a feared experience and if you’re doing the best things as a driver you simply will not get one. Some people do obtain notice that they’ve been officially dumped by their own insurance company they have to struggle to get extra insurance after a cancellation. Affordable auto insurance rates are generally hard to get after the cancellation. Having the main reasons regarding auto insurance canceling can help owners prevent sacrificing one of the most crucial privileges offered. Thanks for the thoughts shared by means of your blog.
Hi, Neat post. There’s a problem with your website in internet explorer, would test this? IE still is the market leader and a good portion of people will miss your great writing due to this problem.
After examine just a few of the weblog posts in your website now, and I actually like your manner of blogging. I bookmarked it to my bookmark web site record and might be checking again soon. Pls check out my web site as well and let me know what you think.
I?m impressed, I need to say. Really rarely do I encounter a blog that?s both educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you have hit the nail on the head. Your thought is excellent; the issue is something that not enough persons are speaking intelligently about. I’m very glad that I stumbled throughout this in my search for one thing referring to this.
Thanks for the ideas you discuss through this website. In addition, a lot of young women who seem to become pregnant tend not to even attempt to get health care insurance because they are concerned they might not qualify. Although a few states right now require that insurers provide coverage no matter what about the pre-existing conditions. Prices on these kinds of guaranteed options are usually bigger, but when considering the high cost of health care it may be a new safer strategy to use to protect your own financial future.
